About Library


Holy Cross Theological College’s library is situated in the center of the Holy Cross Theological College’s Campus. The main objectives of the library are to provide the development of HCTC theological education, to support the needs of the individual interests, to serve as a reference library for faculty, students, and staff and church members and to stand as the valuable library for the Church of the Province of Myanmar with an Archive attached.
The library has collected books, periodicals, audiovisual materials, some e-books and archival materials. There are nearly 23,000 total numbers of books and the majority of which are in English. There are 80% in English and 20% in Myanmar books, which are theological sources (50%), non-theological sources (20%), special collection (2%), reference sources (10%), archive collection (3%) and local language sources (20%).

The Library is running its functions with seven main sections such as (i) Circulation Section (ii) Periodical Section (iii) Classification Section (iv) Cataloguing Section (v) Reference Section (vi) Archive Section (vii) Computer Section.
Students and teachers of the College are eligible to be memberships.
Staff from Provincial Office, Clergies and Lay Ministers from all 8 Dioceses of CPM are entitled to apply for membership by submitting a passport photo and paying allotted membership fees with the recommendation of their Bishop.
The Congregation of the CPM is entitled to apply for membership by submitting a passport photo and paying allotted membership fees with the recommendation Diocesan Bishop and Parish Priest.
The Research Students from Partner Seminaries of CPM and HCTC can apply for membership with the special request and recommendation of respective Principals.

Rules & Regulation

1. All students must be silent while reading in the library reading room.
2. No one is allowed to speak loudly or be improperly dressed in the library.
3. The library prohibits smoking, chewing betel, drinking any kind of liquid, and eating any kind of food.
4. Each student or member is allowed to borrow TEN (10) items at a time, which must be returned within ONE MONTH. An extension can be made for another one month if the items are not required (not on hold) by other students or members.
5. Periodicals and references are not allowed to be checked out of the library. They must be read in the library.
6. (i) Reserved books may be checked out overnight from the library, but an hourly check-in is required (i.e., check out after 4:00 PM and check in before 10:00 AM). If you fail to check inon time, a fine will be charged hourly. (ii) All items must be reserved in advance with the librarian.
7. Books must be returned either to the librarian or to the authorized person at the circulation desk. The borrower should see that the librarian or the authorized person at the circulation desk acknowledges the return of each book.
8. New item/s can be borrowed after the librarian or the authorized person at the circulation desk acknowledges the return of each book.
9. In the event of failure to return the books on the due date, a fine will be charged at the rate of two hundred kyats per day for each book.
10. Serious action (Eg;from the college) will be taken if one is caught stealing and vandalizing books and other properties from the library.
11. If the borrowed items are lost or damaged, they must be replaced or a charge of three times the cost price will be levied.
12. All items must be returned after the examination of each semester.
13. The final examination result will not be released to any student who fails to return the borrowed items after the examination.
14. Graduating students must return all their borrowed items after the examination to be eligible for the conferring of the degree.
15. If necessary, any student leaving from the Library will be examined. The person being examined should not feel bad about it.
